#Kolkata | Head Eastern Region, IMD Kolkata, Dr Somnath Dutta says, "A cyclonic circulation extending over northwest Bengal at 7.6 Km altitude is causing significant weather changes. Over the next 24 hours, a system moving slowly northward is expected to bring heavy to extreme extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places in south Himalaya, West Bengal and Sikkim for these two days (29 and 30). Moderate to heavy rain likely across most districts of South Bengal and scattered rain in North Bengal... Strong and gusty winds are expected over the coastal areas of West Bengal and Bangladesh... Fishermen are advised to avoid going into the sea from 28 May to 30 May... Widespread rainfall in North Bengal and fairly widespread rainfall in South Bengal on June 2-3... Districts under Orange alert are Murshidabad, East Burdwan, Nadia, Hooghly, Howrah, Kolkata, North and South 24 Paraganas and East Medinipur... North Bengal districts likely to receive isolated extremely heavy rain (20+ cm) are Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar and Cooch Behar..."
